Mata Psychiatry was founded with a simple goal: to provide compassionate, accessible psychiatric care without the long wait times and impersonal experience often found in larger healthcare systems. Valerie Ruberto, PMHNP-BC, works collaboratively with patients to develop individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, lifestyle interventions, and supportive therapy. Our practice is committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Telehealth or In Person
We're able to conduct appointments via video call, phone call, or in person at our office in Oakland, NJ! Please note, you must be physically present in New Jersey to partake in Telehealth appointments.
Late Nights and Weekends
We offer flexible appointment times, including late night appointments and weekend appointments! We're typically open until 7:00 PM, but frequently stay open later to accomadate patients with busy work schedules.
Efficient and Thorough
Appointments are as long or as short as you need them to be! Looking for quick, efficient follow-ups? We can provide that! Would you rather take more time to dive deeper into your past and history? We're happy to provide that as well!
Accepting Insurance
We're currently accepting Medicare, Aetna, Cigna, and Carelon Behavioral Health patients. We're in the process of credentialing with most other insurance companies as well!
Responsive and Accessible
We answer the phone when you call! We're two humans running a family-owned practice, not some corporate medical facility. You can expect quick responses from us via text, phone call, email, or patient portal message. We respond within 24 business hours, but often much sooner than that.
A Provider You Can Trust
Before becoming a PMHNP, Valerie received a B.S. in Clinical Psychology and worked in some of the most well-known psychiatric research labs in the country. Her rigorous academic training combined with her compassion for her patients gives her a unique approach to patient care.
Affordable Self-Pay Rates
If you prefer to pay out of pocket, we charge a transparent flat fee of $300 for intake appointments and $150 for follow-ups!
Controlled Substances
Valerie is licensed to prescribe controlled medications when clinically appropriate, including medications commonly used to treat ADHD and certain anxiety disorders. Please note that New Jersey regulations may require an in-person evaluation before initiating some controlled medications.
Little to No Wait Times
We offer same day and next day appointments! We work hard to fit you into the schedule as soon as possible so your treatment won't be delayed.
